Research showed that fruit juices and whole fruit fared about equally when it came to enamel erosion. And in a comparison of those on vegetarian, vegan and omnivorous diets, vegetarians had (perhaps surprisinlgy) no better oral hygiene than ominivores, and vegans where found to have more hypocalcification (demineralised white spots which could progress to become decay).

In one study, consuming citrus fruits, vinegars, and soft drinks increased enamel erosion up to 10 times fold. And, regarding the advice to brush after eating, this is definitely not advisable after consuming any acidic foods or beverages for at least an hour to prevent erosion. Although not evidence-based, the current best advice is to rinse the mouth with water after consuming any acidic foods or beverages. 6 mins

Click to read this paper about Sick individuals and sick populations. The quotations below have been taken from the paper.

It addresses some of the problems inherent in trying to determine risk factors within a population where everyone is exposed to a causative agent. Examples include a study of 20-a-day cigarette smokers which would fail to identify smoking as a cause of lung cancer instead concluding that the illness was genetic. Another example given is that of cardiovascular disease rates in Scotland. This would fail to show hardness of the water as a risk factor because all the water in Scotland is soft – it is only when data is included from England that this becomes obvious.

I have included this paper because we are all generationally and individually exposed to the toxic metals that have been used in dental restorations for well over a century. And most of us will have been exposed to fluoride in toothpaste and/or fluoridated water. Additionally, many people have had one or more extractions by mid-life (at least half of which form cavitations) and/or root filled teeth. That is, in addition to having had regular dental x-rays. These factors are not even being monitored in most studies – they are largely in the blind spot of allopathic medicine and dentistry.

“The hardest cause is the one that is universally present, for then it has no influence on the distribution of the disease. The determinants of incidence are not necessarily the same as the causes. There is a broad tendency for genetic factors to dominate individual susceptibility, but to explain rather little of population difference in incidence.”

“To identify the causal agent by the traditional case-control and cohort methods will be unsuccessful if there are not sufficient difference in exposure within the study population at the time of the study.”

We assume that the fact that one in three of us will get cancer, a similar number will get heart disease and that a quarter of us will suffer every year with mental health problems is ‘normal’ and the escalation in incidence is assumed to be genetic!

“To confine attention in this way to within-population comparisons has caused much confusion in the definition of normality. Laboratory ‘ranges of normal’ are based on what is common within the local population. What is common is all right, we assume.”

In this paper the author also addresses the complete failure of allopathic medicine to ‘cure’ anything outside of infectious diseases (because it has the wrong model).

“Most non-infectious diseases are still of largely unknown cause. If you take a textbook of medicine and look at the list of contents you will still find, despite all our aetiological research, that most are still of basically unknown aetiology.”

And on the well touted topic of preventive medicine:

“Our power to predict future disease is usually very weak. Often the best predictor of a future major disease is the the presence of an existing minor disease.”

A minor disease, I would venture to suggest would include tooth decay or gum disease which both indicate that the entire organism is failing and if whatever deficiency or toxicity is left uncorrected, this will eventually result in serious chronic or degenerative illness unless the warning signs are heeded.

Sadly, this is just the latest incident in a long history of harassing natural health practitioners. So much so that many naturopaths that graduate in North America decide to ply their trade at clinics outside of the contiguous states in South and Central America.

Just a representative sample of some of the raids and disciplinary proceedings brought against natural, integrative or alternative health practitioners, supplements suppliers and biological dentists are listed below. However, this is just the tip of the iceberg since supplements manufacturers, organic farms and organic food suppliers, raw milk dairies and suppliers, and even pet food stores have also been targeted for ‘special attention’ by the law.

THE HOUNDING OF ‘ALTERNATIVE’ MEDICAL PRACTITIONERS

Dr Harvey Bigelsen MD

A short video by the National Health Federation about the work of Dr Harvey Bigelsen and the recent raid on his premises can be found below.

As a young medic, Harvey Bigelsen served as a commanding officer in charge of mass casualties and a trauma surgeon during the Vietnam War. It was whilst in Vietnam that he began to question the received account not only of the war, but of everything he had been taught as a doctor.

After returning from the war, he ran an ophthalmology practice in New Jersey for a while, before moving to Arizona and diverging from the allopathic path. Over the years and after studying with some of the luminaries of the natural health world his understanding changed and he began to develop techniques involving examining the holograms visible in live blood viewed under dark field microscopy. He has also authored four books on holistic health topics.

In March 2014 seven uniformed officers forced their way onto his premises and seized his dark field microscopes, records, supplements and other equipment. Dr Bigelsen gives an account of the raid:

“On March 20 [2014], at approximately 11:00 am, seven uniformed officers came into my office and confiscated two microscopes. I was pretty overwhelmed and wanted to know why they took the microscopes, however they did not tell me. I stood at the doorway and said, ‘This is my personal property,’ and they physically shoved me out of the way. I called the local police and they came over; however, they sided with the uniformed officers. They placed a couple of slips of violations on my counter in the office and left.”

Dr Harvey Bigelsen MD

The ‘violations’ relate to trivial issues concerning the relabelling of homeopathic products imported from Europe (with labels in German or French) into English when he was the reseller not the manufacturer.

But this latest raid is just the latest legal wrangle for Bigelsen. He possibly first incurred the ire of the medical establishment when he co-authored the Arizona Homeopathic Medical Practice Act which broke allopathic medicine’s monopoly giving homeopathy equal legal status in Arizona. He was subsequently appointed by the governor to establish a board and to set the standards for holistic medicine in Arizona.

A complaint in regard to the treatment of two patients in 1990 resulted in the homeopathic board finding no wrongdoing, following which the Arizona Board of Medical Examiners censured Bigelsen. This decision was subsequently vacated by a Superior Court judge who ruled that the medical board could not assume jurisdiction and overrule the homeopathic board.

Then in 1992, a federal grand jury accused Dr. Bigelsen of 117 counts including fraud totalling $3,500 for collecting money for services not offered under Medicare by submitting procedure codes listed under ‘physical medicine’. At the time he was running a clinic with 8 practitioners and 20 staff which was turning over in excess of 2 million dollars a year, so the amount in dispute was a trivial sum for him and the insurance companies. His staff and patients were threatened if they did not testify against him.

These proceedings and one audit after another took its toll and his health deteriorated to the point where he ended up needing 5 intestinal surgeries during which he almost died.

In the end, threatened with jail and with a family to support, Dr Bigelsen pled guilty to 4 counts totalling $145 of offences and settled the case with a plea bargain in which he was forced to surrender all his licenses in the United States. He was sentenced to four years probation and ordered to pay $3,500 in restitution. He decamped to Tijuana, Mexico for the duration and now consults in Nevada City, California.

He currently faces 9 charges and potentially a year in prison for every charge brought – for minor errors in the labelling of homeopathic remedies that have caused no harm to anyone.

The Tahoma Clinic raid

In 1992 FDA agents and King County police officers took part in an armed raid on the clinic of Dr. Jonathan Wright MD. They smashed down the door and raided the clinic with guns drawn, lining patients up with their hands in the air. For 14 hours they seized patient records, computers, vitamin supplies, and various natural therapy products keeping the items (illegally) for 3 years.

The reason for the raid? He was using vitamin B injections.

The Burzynski clinic raid

Dr Stanislaw R. Burzynski MD PhD is a Polish physician and biochemist, whose biochemistry PhD thesis research fresh out of medical school in 1967 led him to discover naturally occurring peptides (he calls antineoplastons) in the human body which are able to control the growth of cancerous tumours by enhancing the natural biochemical defence system of the body.

After working as an Assistant Professor at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, he founded his clinic in Houston, Texas which has subsequently treated over 8,000 patients. He is also the president of the Burzynski Research Institute, where he continues to pursue scientific research on Antineoplastons.

In 1991 his clinic was raided by the FDA and the Texas Department of Health. Maybe not coincidentally, just prior to the raid, the National Cancer Institute had announced they would evaluate his work using antineoplastons. He has been taken to court 5 times, and had all his records seized.

He works under severe restrictions including only being allowed to offer treatment at his clinic within the context of clinical trials, not being allowed to advertise outside of Texas or to export his products across state lines.

“I didn’t push against it – the other side have the guns.”

Dr Richard Massey MD on retaining his medical licence, but losing his permit to practice

Dr Jennifer Daniels, MD MBA

Dr Daniels of Syracuse, New York was accused of successfully treating a diabetic patient using only diet and exercise (this is proven in the scientific literature to be more effective than drug treatment). Suspended for two years, financially ruined and unable to get employment she has now decamped South of the US border.

Dr. Rebecca Carley, MD

Dr Carley from Hicksville, Long Island lost her licence to practice and was deemed ‘psychologically impaired’ in 2003 for speaking out about her concerns over vaccinations (her own son became diabetic she believes as a result of vaccine damage). She continues to warn others about the dangers of vaccinations.

Dr. Serafina Corsello, MD

A high profile alternative practitioner, Dr Corsello had two large medical centres in Manhattan and Long Island. In 2000 she was brought up on charges of over-testing, the use of vitamin therapy, chelation therapy and diagnosing lead toxicity. Her lawyer answered the charges too late and this was deemed to be an admission to all charges. Her medical license was revoked. (I hope her lawyer didn’t send her a bill!).

Dr Sarah Myhill, MB BS

Dr Sarah Myhill works in Powys, Wales and specialises in the treatment of chronic fatigue (CFS) and associated disorders. In 2012 she was taken to task for publishing information on her website that was deemed to be ‘contrary to national guidelines’ and thus might ‘place patients at serious risk’ and that her actions were ‘a significant departure’ from ‘proper standards of care’.

The case was initiated when a group of GPs complained about her recommendation that one patient receive magnesium and vitamin B12 injections. She received a formal warning in 2012 from the General Medical Council, was told to remove clinical and nutritional information from her website and placed on 5 years probation during which she has to work under supervision and get permission for any medicines prescribed.

“We must admit that we have never fought the homeopath on matters of principle. We fought them because they came into our community and got the business.”

Dr J N McCormack American Medical Association, 1903

THE INTIMIDATION OF SUPPLEMENTS SUPPLIERS

The Life Extension raids

The Life Extension Foundation (www.LEF.org) is a non-profit organisation that publishes information about nutritional supplements and natural anti-ageing breakthroughs. In 1987 their Fort Lauderdale office was raided by approximately 25 armed FDA agents and U.S. Marshals with guns drawn. A simultaneous raid was conducted by a second group of FDA agents on the LEF warehouse, where they detained the organisation’s co-founder, William Faloon, at gunpoint.

Employees were lined up against the wall and searched, many personal items were confiscated. Thousands of items were seized, and computers and telephones were reportedly, ‘…ripped from the wall’. Later analysis revealed that 80 percent of the seized items were never named in the warrant.

The raid worked, because many employees were too terrified to return to work. There followed an 11 year reign of terror as co-founders Saul Kent and William Faloon fought against 56 criminal charges – and finally won out when the charges were dismissed.

The Highland Laboratories raid

Ken Scott ran a company in Oregon which sold nutritional supplements containing coenzyme Q10 and supplied reprints of magazine and newspaper articles on the topic.

In 1990 a total of 28 government agents kicked the doors to his office down and with guns drawn confiscated nearly everything they could find at Highland Laboratories.

At the same time his daughter who sent scientific literature and articles about CoQ10 to his customers, (because he was not allowed to do this under FDA regulations) was raided at home and illegally detained for 12 hours. She subsequently closed her business.

Ken Scott ultimately cut a deal with prosecutors, and served five years on probation for publicising scientific research about enzyme CoQ10.

THE BULLYING OF BIOLOGICAL DENTISTS

Dr Mark Breiner, DDS

In December 2001, the biological dentist and author of Whole Body Dentistry, Dr. Mark Breiner DDS of Connecticut, was fined $5,000 for advising patients that their mercury fillings and root canal filled teeth could be contributing to their health problems and was warned not to speak out about mercury fillings in future.

Laughably, (given his extraordinary level of skill, training and insight) his disciplinary actions were categorised under fraud/deceit/incompetence/negligence in the consent order. He was also ordered not to extract root canal filled teeth without first providing the patient with the names and telephone numbers of dentists who would be prepared to re-treat or surgically treat such teeth. No-one attending his office would be unaware of the fact that his practice is biological – indeed many travel and far and wide to see him, so this condition is just ridiculous.

Then in 2003 Dr Breiner further incurred the wrath of the Connecticut Department of Public Health when he wrote an editorial in the Connecticut Post newspaper warning about dental amalgam fillings after there had been a mercury spill in a local high school. He was reprimanded, told he had violated the consent order from 2001 and told to ‘refrain from submitting any more editorials concerning [his] opinion of amalgam fillings and/or legislation’.

Dr Breiner went on the offensive and sued the State department of health and as a consequence was awarded some of his free speech rights in federal court (provided he does not claim to be able to cure ailments, he hands a document to all patients explaining the position of health officials, and is not allowed to write articles or advertise). Breiner is still barred, however, from recommending that patients have their amalgam fillings removed.

“I do not have free speech within the confines of my office. When you have a license, you forfeit certain freedoms.”

Dr Mark Breiner DDS

THE CONTROL SYSTEM AND THE EXTRAORDINARY HEALER

Bruno Gröning

Just to show that this behaviour is nothing new and not exclusively the preserve of North America, we will examine the case of the healer and mystic, Bruno Gröning. Born in Danzig, Poland in 1906, he worked as a carpenter and dock labourer amongst other jobs prior to the war. Conscripted, he was court martialled and nearly executed for refusing to kill another human. Captured and imprisoned in Russia during the war, he campaigned for better conditions in the prison.

He shot to nationwide prominence in 1949 when the father of a young boy claimed that Gröning had healed his son of muscular dystrophy and, as news circulated, thousands of people started to gather seeking healing. As he travelled around Germany, Austria and Switzerland he would often draw large crowds and 30,000 people are reported to have gathered in Rosenheim in 1949.

Many of these people not only experienced miraculous healings, but these recoveries proved lasting and were medically verified.

Gröning said that health was the natural state of all living things and that it could be maintained or reinstated by tuning in to a divine ‘Healing Stream’. He also spoke of the need to have positive expectations of the outcome and faith in a higher power. He never took personal credit or received any financial reward for the healings and regarded himself as a mediator who could help others connect with the ‘Healing Stream’.

Bruno-Groening

The miraculous healings of Bruno Groening became a media sensation, and committees were set up to investigate his claims. As is typical, media coverage branded him both a ‘miracle doctor’, and a ‘charlatan’.

The medical profession, the church, lawyers and even former colleagues did their utmost to foil his activities. The Minister for Social Affairs in North-Rhine-Westphalia had him prosecuted for ‘practising medicine without a license’, he was forbidden to heal or speak to people. He was dogged by court cases and healing bans. On other occasions, officials stopped the gatherings expressed concern about crowd control. Put on trial twice, he was unable to participate in the second trial because he was undergoing surgery at the time.

He died at the relatively young age of 52 during a court trial and the death certificate stated the cause of death as stomach cancer. As you can see from his portrait, his neck was distended and this was said to be due to the build-up of healing power he was unable to express and may have been what killed him.

The only requirement he ever attached to his work and teachings is that no money should change hands, and to this day his supporters honour that pledge.

THE MADNESS OF MODERN MEDICINE

‘Protecting’ the public?

Many of these examples are from the USA where the health regime is considered to be one of the most oppressive in the world. In spite of the vast amounts of money spent on healthcare in the US (an average of $9,000 per person per year) as a nation it ranks 37th in health outcomes compared to the rest of the world. Eighteen per cent of US GDP is spent on healthcare – that’s one in every eleven dollars spent on illness management!

How is it that this corrupt and largely ineffectual system has been able to take the moral high ground and to bully all alternatives using the taxpayer-funded state apparatus?

Well, the allopathic paradigm is constantly reinforced by advertising and the mainstream media who rely upon Big Pharma for their advertising revenue. Like a fish in water most Americans probably regard their saturation pharmaceutical advertising as ‘normal’, but to non-residents it is deeply troubling that manufacturers are allowed to advertise drugs directly to the consumer – and that it works so effectively (otherwise they wouldn’t do it).

You may, or may not currently realise it, but a relentless group with deep pockets and the resources of the state at their disposal are committed to removing all options for treatment other than standard issue allopathic healthcare. It is critical to understand that medicine is first and foremost a business and one of the most profitable in the world and that, as with any industry worth billions of dollars a year, some skulduggery and bribery goes on at the highest levels.

One of the groups that works tirelessly to ‘protect’ the public from the supposed hazards of alternative medicine is the Codex Alimentarius Commission. Latin for ‘food code’, this is an inter-governmental body that was set up in 1963 with the remit of setting guidelines and standards that would protect the health of consumers and ensure fair practices in the global food trade. It now has over 170 member countries and works through nearly 30 committees. Although international non-governmental organisations (INGOs) cannot vote, they can and do influence Codex proceedings.

Codex is busy taking all kinds of herbal, vitamin and mineral supplements off the table and reducing dosages of such supplements to the point where they become ineffectual. Under the guise of protecting the public it also seeks to ‘regulate’ Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) and has succeeding in getting homeopathy made illegal in several US states. Controversially, it has deemed beef and dairy products derived from cattle fed genetically engineered bovine growth hormone to be safe and has therefore imposed swingeing annual fines upon European countries that refuse to import American and Canadian beef so fed.

“It must be remembered that the first job of any conspiracy, whether it be in politics, crime or within a business office, is to convince everyone else that no conspiracy exists. The conspirators’ success will be determined largely by their ability to do this.”

Gary Allen

And they remain silent

A large part of the reason that the public in general aren’t aware of the health issues posed by the use of mercury in dental amalgam fillings is because the truth has been kept from dentists themselves and, if informed, they are not allowed to discuss it freely with patients.

There is in effect a ‘gagging order’ covering dentists in the US which does not allow them to speak out about the biocompatibility (or lack thereof) of dental materials. Some states have now ungagged all their dentists and they can speak out against mercury dental fillings. However, in states like Virginia, any dentist who breaks rank risks being disciplined by state dental boards or regulatory agencies for warning patients or the public about mercury dental fillings or other harmful procedures such as root canals.

“All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.”

18th century Irish Politician and philosopher

Allopathic medicine’s reign of terror

Of course you don’t need a heavily armed SWAT team with guns drawn to perform a surprise raid on a natural health clinic. What did they think the mild mannered, gentle septuagenarian, Dr Harvey Bigelsen was going to do to 7 uniformed officers trained in combat? What they want to do is send out a clear message to healthcare workers: comply with the allopathic standard of care treatments or suffer the punishment.

The whole idea is to terrify the staff and terrorise the practitioner – and importantly, to discourage anyone else who might even entertain the notion about joining their ranks. Allopathic medicine wants a monopoly on health care and they will use any means to make that happen.

The fact is they don’t want you cured – they would lose a lifelong consumer of their products. I would venture to suggest that the reason they come down so heavily on some practices – vitamin injections or intravenous chelation, for example, is not because they pose a danger to the patient or don’t work – but because they do and if such treatments were to gain ground, it would represent a threat to Big Pharma profits.

As you probably gather by now, the allopathic medical and dental system has to work very hard to quell dissent, silence debate and instil fear into all its practitioners. But why are such measures necessary in the first place?

Seriously, how bad do allopathic ‘treatments’ and outcomes have to be for them to have to enforce their approach at the point of a gun? To paraphrase Dr Andrew Wakefield in regard to vaccination “They have lost the battle for hearts and minds already – otherwise they wouldn’t need to use coercion”.

You are not free at all if you are not free to make an informed – or even a stupid – decision about something as fundamental as the kind of health or dental care you choose to receive. After all, whose body is it anyway? Every parent too should have the right to choose what they think is best for their child rather than having the state impose its will.

“When the government has the power to make medical decisions for us, we, in essence, accept that the state owns our bodies.”

The infamous US case of Starchild Abraham Cherrix who, having gone through three months of chemotherapy for his non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma at the age of 15, was forced to submit to further treatment when it returned a year later against his and his parent’s will. Obviously, both he and his parents were all too aware of the effects/side-effects of chemotherapy having already gone through one course – and that it had already failed once to control his cancer.

They wanted to try another (non-state sanctioned) approach, but were compelled to submit to another course of chemotherapy or have their child taken from them. Even if both Abraham and his parents were hopelessly misguided – it was his body and his choice. I would suggest that the concern of the authorities wasn’t for his health and welfare, but in imposing the will of the state on everyone and having no dissenters.

“This is my body that I’m supposed to take care of. I should have the right to tell someone what I want to do with this body. I studied. I did research. I came to this conclusion that the chemotherapy was not the route I wanted to take.”

Plus ça change

The state no longer uses the inquisition wheel or the wrack, or the town centre stocks designed to humiliate those who step out of line, but the techniques in essence, haven’t changed that much.

Now natural health practitioners operate under the threat of being publicly shamed, losing their licence, livelihood and possibly everything they have worked for, being physically assaulted, and imprisoned. In the words of one observer “Being a natural health practitioner in the United States today is like being a Jew in 1930s Germany.”

So back to the raid on the premises of Dr Harvey Bigelsen that inspired this article. Throughout history, creative thinkers and innovators have always been given a hard time by small minded, box ticking bureaucrats.

The current situation in allopathic medicine and dentistry is that no innovation is allowed in clinical medical or dental practice as this deviates from ‘standard of care’ and such practitioners will find themselves out on a limb and undefended should a complaint arise. So all innovation is supposed to happen in universities. But the people who were best at regurgitating everything they had been taught, who didn’t rock the boat and got tenure are the last people who are going to think outside the box – they are the establishment! And not only are they unlikely to innovate, they often do their level best to stifle any departure from the status quo using their status and the respect afforded their position.

So roll on the Harveys of this world who have paid a high personal price to bring you science and the truth.

I just hope his health can withstand this latest onslaught.

“Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds.”

His experiences motivated him over the course of his career to search for a probiotic remedy to infections caused by Streptococcus pyogenes, the infective agent involved in strep throat.

He tells of his study which followed 100 school age children for 6 years. Ten of these 100 children did not get a streptococcal throat infections over the course of the study. Tagg and his team isolated the ‘friendly’ protective probiotic bacteria, Streptococcus salivarius, from all ten children. The Strep salivarius appeared to operate by producing powerful infection-fighting molecules that John Tagg eventually named ‘BLIS K12′.

A gum containing Strep salivarius has now been produced which aims to against sore throat, sinus infection, ear aches, bad breath, common cold and other infections. 8 mins total

In this video Professor Tagg is interviewed on 9 Network TV Australia about the protection offered by Cultured Care’s Probiotic Gum with BLIS K12.
